- Smooth and efficient assembly of unit
- Tight, immovable deadlines met
- Fully optimised design to ensure minimal material usage
- Confidence in safety of design due to FEA performed
“This project was especially demanding due to the tight deadlines, however it made achievable by Haughton’s attention to technical detail, which meant it assembled and worked first time!”
Pratt and Whitney wanted to display one of their new engines at the Paris Air show, and a stand had to be designed which supported the engine in the most subtle way possible, and allow for the side panels to be opened to examine the internal workings. By completing extensive Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to assess the stress concentrations within the stand we were able to optimise the design to use the least material, whilst maintaining a high Factor of Safety.
