Powtech 2016 – Dale Comley Travels to Nuremberg for the Mechanical Processing Technology Exhibition

Powtech 2016, hosted in the enormous Nürnberg exhibition centre, Germany is the undisputed number one for powder, granule and bulk solids processing technologies. A total of 891 exhibitors from 31 countries showcased innovations for entirely new and more efficient production processes.

Sent on a fact finding mission by one of our clients, Dale Comley spent two days at the exhibition immersing himself in the industry and learning as much as possible about the equipment used in the pharmaceutical, food and chemical sectors to produce everything from lifesaving drugs to coffee.

After an early start, two flights and a train, Dale arrived in Nuremberg ready for the start of the exhibition and his investigation to begin.

After clocking up nearly 15 miles walking around the exhibition on just the first day, it’s fair to say Dale gained great exposure to what was currently on offer in the industry. Despite identifying countless beautifully engineered machines, a clear lack of innovation was present. In many cases the fundamental working principles of the equipment had not developed since their creation decades or even centuries ago. This presents a great opportunity for Haughton Design to do what it does best; to produce a new and innovative range of products that provide genuine performance benefits to the industry and its consumers.

Now knowing his centrifugal sifters from his vibratory screeners, and with design work starting soon, it is an exciting time to be involved in such an important industry.
